When production is shutdown for changeovers or preventative maintenance the use of VCI protective Packaging (volatile corrosion inhibitor) products will greatly assist a safe and easy rust free downtime. 1. Ensure components are dry and free from corrosion before packaging.
2. Parts should be packaged as quickly as possible after manufacturing and cleaning.
3. The use of gloves while handling parts will help to eliminate corrosion caused by skin contact.
4. Ensure that coolants, Rust Preventive liquids and other liquids used during manufacture are tested for concentration levels on a regular basis.
5. Ensure that all staff involved in packaging and handling metal components are fully trained in the use of Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors and when/where they should be used.​
